Obtaining God’s Glory For Ourselves

2 The 2:13-14 But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth; to which he called you through our Gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What is God’s glory? If Christ in us is the hope of glory, and if we are being changed from glory to glory, and God has called us for the obtaining of the glory of Jesus, what does that mean practically in our lives?

God’s glory is the culmination of all of His characteristics and qualities. It is His combined greatness, patience, faithfulness, love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, joy, peace, etc. How do we access these characteristics and qualities to live them out victoriously in our every day lives? How can they help us with depression and anxiety and healing from the pain of the past?

They exist WITHIN God Himself. So they are present in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If you are born again, His Spirit lives within you, so you have all of those characteristics of His glory physically present within your temple. The trick is accessing them so that the salvation worked into you gets worked OUTSIDE of you and is exemplified by your words and actions and attitudes.

Accessing the glory of God and being changed to be like God is a continual process of surrendering to Him. That means stopping ourselves from pursuing our own ways long enough to ask God to take control of us and the situation to handle it His way. That is done through faith-filled prayer – asking and expecting Him to answer. To become more like Him, we must “remain” in Him, and that is always the challenge of our life – not to go off on our own, but to remain in Him.

Questions of the day:
1. What qualities of God do you need in order to successfully continue pursuing your healing?
2. How can you practically access them today?
